Tottenham Hotspur defeat Southampton before New YearsPosted: January 7, 2018
Tottenham beat Southampton by a 5-2 score in the Premier League on 26th of December.
Harry Kane managed to score another hat-trick since Spurs’ match against Burnley, where the striker offered his team three points after thrashing the opponents with three goals against a clean sheet.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute marking Kane’s record goal for the Premier League since Alan Shearer’s in 1995, who played at that time for Blackburn.
A quarter of an hour afterwards, the striker doubled the score extending his tally and surpassing the record of Argentina’s star, Lionel Messi.
Dele Alli followed him and made it 3-0 shortly after the break. Two minutes afterwards, Son Heung-min scored another goal from Alli’s delivery, to send Southampton into a desperate situation.
However, the Saints didn’t give in at this point, as Sofiane Boufal gave a response in the 64th minute to bring it to 4-1.
Three minutes afterwards, Kane ensured his hat-trick, firing another goal from Alli’s pass. In the late game, Dusan Tadic scored another one for Saints, to seal the score at 5-2.
It was another difficult game for the Saints, as their struggle was evident over the dominant Spurs. They are now in the 13th position in the League table, staying by three points above relegation.
Tottenham stays fifth with 37 points, needing one more to equal Liverpool, who recently defeated Swansea by a 5-0 score.
