Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took the first place in the second race of this year’s competition. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas finished second. He was behind the German in the final lap, closing the gap more and more, but it wasn’t enough to overtake him.
Lewis Hamilton managed to climb up from ninth to third. He managed to perform a stunning move, taking three positions in one corner. After the first lap, Hamilton overtook Fernando Alonso’s MacLaren and as he dove into the first corner, Force India’s Esteban Ocon and Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg saw him ahead. Later on, he passed Kevin Magnussen’s Haas and Pierre Gasly’s Toro Rosso.
A nasty incident occurred for the Ferrari, during Kimi Raikkonen’s second pit stop. The Finn accelerated too soon, as his rear wheel smashed the mechanic’s leg from behind, who was waiting to remove it. He was taken to the hospital, where a broken leg was confirmed. Raikkonen was running third but had to retire due to the incident.
Vettel’s win emerged as a dramatic result after the occurred episodes. In the final laps, his tyres were giving in with Bottas closing the gap behind him. However, due to German’s safe play and precise control, he managed to take another win in this race.
The next Grand Prix will take place in China, where the racers will have the chance to manifest themselves on a different track.
