Manchester United defeat Huddersfield Town in the FA CupPosted: February 21, 2018
Manchester United won against Huddersfield Town by a 0-2 score to progress into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on 17th of February.
The opener came just in the third minute as Romelu Lukaku fired from Juan Mata’s delivery. United sealed the score in the 55th minute from Belgian’s shot.
Before the break, Juan Mata almost claimed a goal, but the referee ruled it out. There was confusion about the correctness of the decision, but in the end, United still received its win, which will see them play against Brighton in the quarter-finals.
Though United didn’t show their best, they accomplished their task well. The Terriers dominated in possession by 54%, which could be seen, as they troubled their opponents in the midfield. The absence of Paul Pogba could be felt, as they couldn’t muster any well-executed efforts with all hopes being left to Lukaku.
Lukaku managed to break through opponents defence with the help of Alexis Sanchez and Mata, who supported him in the front. He has scored already 21 goals in this season.
The Terriers showed a great game by creating many chances and dominating most of the game. However, their loss brings them back to the Premier League, where they can concentrate to improve their stats. They stay in the 17th position, and with a similar tempo, they could easily evade relegation until the end of the season.
