Manchester United defeats Everton in the Premier LeaguePosted: January 12, 2018
Everton ended their first home match in the New Year with a 0-2 defeat against Manchester United, who stay by 12 points behind the league leaders, Manchester City.
Anthony Martial opened the score in the 57th minute taking the ball from Wayne Rooney. Jesse Lingard doubled the score in the late game from outside the box, giving United a strong 0-2 win, against Everton.
Jose Mourinho’s side has endured a period of winless games in the recent encounters, however, with their victory over Everton, it seems that they are back in the game. In this match, some of United’s most influential players were absent, including Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who are out due to injuries. Despite that, Mourinho’s side was still in a major advantage.
The unpredictable road continues for Everton. Since Ronald Koeman’s sacking in October, Sam Allardyce didn’t make much of a difference. However, the team is showing signs of improvement with a draw against Chelsea and wins against Liverpool, where Rooney scored a late penalty.
Everton needs a more serious attacking threat, and while Niasse and Rooney pose a threat, they need to gain much more potential. The team hopes to succeed in a deal with Beskitas’ striker, Cenk Tosun, who could drag the team of their critical situation. Though many could criticize Allardyce, it is important to understand that the team still lacks some qualities, which he is trying to tackle at the moment.
