Manchester United Defeat Everton 2-1Posted: November 2, 2018
Manchester United climb to the eighth position in the Premier League tables after 2-1 victory against Everton on Sunday, October 28th. Helped by Arsenal, who dropped points at Crystal Palace only a day after, Manchester United is again in the top 10 of this season’s Premier League, although they are still 9 whole points behind current leaders Liverpool. Jose Mourinho’s side might also have to work hard from now on to not drop many more points – as this might risk their Premier League qualification in the next season.
The match opened up with Paul Pogba spectacular 26-step run-up to intercept a saved penalty and drive it into the net in the 27th minute. The second Manchester goal came later in the second half of the game when Anthony Martial curved a superb pass from fellow Frenchman Pogba, driving it home in the 49th minute. The Reds seemed to seal the score to 2-0 for the night, but Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson managed to convert a penalty only 12 minutes short of the end of the game. However, this did not change much for Everton – the team still fell under Manchester in the tables at the end of the night.
Manchester United showed an energetic display for their fans, which came around as refreshing after all the drama surrounding the club in the last couple of months. Despite his infamous tense relationship with Martial, Mourinho praised him after the game, saying ‘At the moment he is solid, playing very well.’
