Manchester City plays a draw against Burnley in the Premier League

Manchester City ended their match against Burnley by a 1-1 draw on 3rd of January.

City gained the lead in the first half after Danilo’s impressive long-ranged shot. In the second half, they could have doubled score, when Raheem Sterling launched the ball from six yard. However, he failed to score which was met with boos from the crowd. Sterling was substituted afterwards, and Burnley managed to equalise the score in the 82nd minute from Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s effort.

After the game, Pep Guardiola commented that he didn’t send off Sterling for his failed effort. He expressed that he doesn’t blame the player and such occurences aren’t a surprise in football.

This is the fourth winless game for City in this season, however, their lead still remains strong, staying by 13 points above Machester United.

Guardiola could only peek six substituted in this game, experiencing a shortage of players, who were just a couple of days before in action. However, their loss can’t be justified by the lack of playes, as they had enough chances to get ahead of Burnley.

For the Clarets only the worst was chasing them, as their run was the worst since 2014-15 season. Their manager, Sean Dyche can be assured now that his team still didn’t lose the spirit and will to threaten the strongest. In the final minutes, as the crowd showed support for them, they managed to gain a point and meet their expectations.
