Liverpool thrashes Swansea in the Premier League

Liverpool beat Swansea by a 5-0 score to stabilize their position in the league table on 26th of December.

The opener was fired by Philipe Coutinho in the sixth minute to give Liverpool a confident lead. The first half continued with Swansea’s defensive efforts, and it looked good for them until the second half.

Roberto Firmino doubled the score in the 52nd minute after his effort in the first went wide. Trent Alexander Arnold launched the third goal from inside the box, 12 minutes off Brazilian’s effort.  Firmino scored another goal afterwards from Coutinho’s delivery.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sealed the score in the late game to give Liverpool a clean 5-0 sheet.

Liverpool showed a great defensive play this time demonstrating that the claims about their poor defence aren’t true. Reds’ boss, Jurgen Klopp, has been criticised after his side conceded in the recent game against Arsenal three goals within five minutes. Though there wasn’t much going on against them, as Swansea’s offence was sloppy at times, their keeper, Simon Mignolet still had to deal with some opponents’ attempts, which could never reach past him.

For Swansea, it remains a difficult target to fight decently against such teams as Liverpool, as they remain on the bottom of the league. They won only three games from 20, which is an alarming figure, considering that many teams have exited relegation, while they are drowning more and more.

Both teams surely have a lot to look forward to and make some improvements, to advance further in the league table.
