Liverpool Defeat Cardiff City 4-1

Liverpool managed to move on to the top of the Premier League table after the 4-1 win against Cardiff City on Saturday, October 27th. Liverpool managed to maintain a clean winning streak since the start of this season, and yesterday’s victory against Cardiff pushed them 3 points ahead of Manchester City, who was previously at the summit with 23 points. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp commented that ‘it’s not decisive, but 26 points is good’. After yesterday’s game, the Reds have matched their 2008-09 tally, when they ended up on the second place.

The Reds enjoyed 80% possession throughout the game, and the score opened with Mohamed Salah’s shop meeting the net in the 10th minute. Cardiff showed a quite good defensive in the first minutes of the game, but hopes died quickly after the first goal, despite the score remaining at 1-0 before half-time. Sadio Mane’s finishers hit the net not once, but twice after half-time, in the 66th and 78th minute, the latter grace to a Salah assist.

Despite the Reds’ victory being pretty much decided at that point, Cardiff did manage a small victory against Klopp’s men – Patterson’s hit in the 77h minute, which destroyed Liverpool’s streak of clean sheets at Anfield. However, the Reds were still leading by two points at the time, and sealed the score to 4-1 with Shaqiri’s brilliant finisher less than 5 minutes before the end of the game.
