Liverpool beats Burnley in the Premier LeaguePosted: January 14, 2018
Liverpool gained a dramatic 1-2 win in the match against Burnley on 1st of January.
Sadio Mane opened the score after a goalless first half, giving Reds the lead in the 61st minute.
Johann Gudmundsson equalized the score in the 87th minute, putting Liverpool in an uncomfortable situation. However, Ragnar Klavan launched a late goal in the injury time, to give his team three points.
After Klavan’s contribution in this win, Reds’ boss, Jurgen Klopp, might find it difficult to organize a new formation with their new player who arrived from Southampton for £75m, Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds weren’t as convincing in the first half, but after Mane fired the opener both sides became livelier. More efforts followed in the late game, and it was Burnley’s unlucky day, as Klavan intervened in the injury time, to take away their point.
Their keeper, Nick Pope made many saves, which kept their game alive until the late extra minutes. Even before the equalizer, they created many chances and after Gudmundsson’s goal, they still had some opportunities in the sleeve.
Burnley received a blow in the ending minutes, and while the probability that they will finish in the top-four is very low, they could still make through in other competitions.
Liverpool has moved up in the fourth place in the league table, while Burnley is in the seventh.
