Chelsea defeat Everton in the EFL CupPosted: November 3, 2017
Chelsea defeated Everton by a 2-1 score in the Carabao Cup to eliminate them out of the competition on 25th of October.
The opener was fired by Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger from a header in the 26th minute. Everton resisted powerfully, but Willian managed to score in the second injury minute, to assure a late victory. Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin was at his best as he netted one back just two minutes afterwards, before hearing the final whistle.
Everton’s new boss, David Unsworth said that despite the loss, he enjoyed the way his team performed. After Koeman’s sacking, Unsworth commented that he wants to be permanently in charge of the Toffees. They didn’t reach the last eight of this competition, but if they will continue performing in a similar lively manner, they could eventually climb out of the Premier League’s bottom.
Chelsea’s boss, Antonio Conte will have to advance further in this competition and Premier League in the highest spirits. A team of their calibre should, after all, to be able to show impressive results in all type of challenges.
As they were trying to double the score in the second half, the Toffees also became more aggressive and it was clear that another goal won’t came that easily. Conte released Alvaro Morata – his first choice striker to pressure them harder, but in the end, Willian managed to exploit Everton’s weakness and score the decisive goal.
