Celtic defeats Motherwell in the Scottish CupPosted: May 23, 2018
Celtic have gained the Scottish Cup title after defeating Motherwell in the finals on 19th of May.
Callum McGregor offered Brendan Rodgers’ an early lead in the 11th minute. Olivier Ntcham sealed the win as he doubled the score with a low shot.
In the second half, Motherwell’s style of play improved, however, they couldn’t muster any successful attempt.
It became Celtic’s seventh’ successive top-flight win and 38th Scottish Cup title in their history. Even before Rogers got in charge for the club, they were showing devastating performance. In this season they gained 17 victories having 58 scored goals. Though Well reached the finals to battle Celtic, their task to gain the title was still bigger than ever.
In the early minutes of the game, Motherwell seemed to have the advantage against the vulnerable defence of Celtic. However, only 11 minutes afterwards, everything has changed. McGregor snatched the loose ball, which was delivered by Mikael Lustig. After that, Celtic managed to damage Motherwell’s morale, to see them improve but still deliver no results after the break.
With the Scottish Cup sealed, Celtic remains the most ferocious team in their league. They didn’t finish invulnerable this time, as they conceded six goals in this season, but if there will be somebody to stop them next time, it would become one of the Scottish Cup’s all-time highlights.
